François la tricoteuse, illustrated by Maurice Albe in 1944.

I just discovered a new GORGEOUS artist from the 40's !!!

His name ? Maurice Albe !!! :)

I saw this book yesterday and i had a crush ( once more...) :D

So i bought it and i made some research...

Maurice Albe was born in 1900 and died in 1995 in France. He was an engraver, a painter, a sculptor, an illustrator, a ceramist and has rubbed shoulders with the greatest artists such as Picasso, Braque, Lurçat and Gris and i understand why !!! :) I love his pencil stroke ( one feels that he was an engraver ) !!!

It reminds me Russian illustrations too !!!
